Grand Banks Yachts captured top honors in an award ceremony held here today by the Marine Marketers of America (MMA). The organization announced the winners of the its first annual North American marketing competition, which drew an impressive 46 entries from 24 different companies representing a broad range of brands, boats, products and services.
The MMA introduced their new "Neptune Awards" for marketing communications campaigns judged "Best in Class" by expert panels of marine industry marketing professionals. The mission of this new awards program is to recognize and promote excellence in marine marketing communications.
Awards were presented to entrants in five different categories. Grand Banks Yachts won for Best Print Advertisement, two-page spread. The winning ad is part of a highly visible campaign for the company's newest model, the 41 Heritage EU.
"We were extremely pleased by both the quality and the number of entries in our inaugural year of the competition," said Sally Helme, MMA awards committee co-chair and publisher of three Bonnier Marine Group boating and sailing magazines. "Clearly, outstanding marine marketing work is underway in our industry and the winners have reason to be very proud of their recognition and distinctive achievement."
Several teams of independent marine marketers were appointed by the awards committee to review and judge individual categories. A no-conflict requirement among judges was enacted to ensure total objectivity.
"I'm very pleased to have our team recognized by the industry for the outstanding work they produce week in and week out," said David Hensel, Director of Brand and Marketing for Grand Banks Yachts. "Across the industry, the quality and effectiveness of marketing has improved greatly, and it's good to see the MMA taking a strong role in building on this trend."
