Grand Banks Kicks Off Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show
Show starts on a wave of strong sales and new model launches

FT. LAUDERDALE – October 27, 2011 – Grand Banks Yachts opened the 2011 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show on a strong upswing, with good expectations that recent new-model sales gains will continue through the show and beyond.

Despite a market for new luxury yachts that has been slow to recover from the economic downturn, Grand Banks has seen sales of its new models increase markedly during the weeks and months leading up to the show. That includes sales of several larger yachts from its Aleutian raised-pilothouse series and the Eastbay Series of Downeast-style cruisers.

"Summer was a great season for brokerage sales across our dealer network, but not as much for new yachts," said Neil McCurdy, GB Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Service. "Coming into fall, however, things really picked up for us in markets all over the world, and it's great to be entering this major boat show with such good momentum."

Recent new boat sales include larger Aleutian models such as the 59RP, 65RP and 72SC. Grand Banks also just marked the sale of its one-hundredth 47 Heritage model since introducing the 47EU five years ago.

Another recent sale of note was last month's order for Grand Banks' first 55 Eastbay FB, a new flybridge version of the company's largest and most luxurious Eastbay model. Earlier this year Grand Banks introduced the 46 Eastbay FB as well, a flybridge version of the 46 Eastbay with Zeus pod drives and joystick control.

Grand Banks capped this year's new-model introduction here at the Ft. Lauderdale show, with the announcement of its new 54 Heritage EU - the largest model in the company's iconic Heritage Series of trawler-style motoryachts.

"Despite the challenges facing our industry today, Grand Banks continues to support and invest in new model development," said McCurdy. "We're very pleased with the reception these new yachts have received, and are encouraged by the recent increase in sales of new Grand Banks."
