Pender Harbour, B.C., Fisherman's Resort & Marina
(Read the LogBlog entry from Pender Harbour)

Pender Harbour is not a single large bay. It is a complex of coves, each with its own personality. The harbor is nestled against steep mountains, and the scenery is beautiful. It is a great place for walking and biking. The Grand Tour stayed at Fisherman's Resort and Marina for its spectacular West Coast oceanfront scenery - and their hospitality. It is quiet and peaceful yet within a short walk of a store, post office, restaurant and pub.

Things to See & Do

Fisherman's Resort & Marina
Fisherman's Resort and Marina is located in Hospital Bay (Charts 3512 and 3311) on Garden Peninsula, inside the entrance of lovely Pender Harbour. This picturesque marina may be your final destination or a stopover en route to Desolation Sound, Princess Louisa Inlet or points further north.

Over 2300 feet of docks with deep water moorage. 20 and 30 amp power is provided as well as plentiful fresh potable drinking water to fill your tanks. Friendly personalized service, beautifully landscaped gardens, and colorful pots adorning the floats during the season, all add to the ambiance of the marina.

Fisherman's Resort and Marina is an ideal place to rendezvous with guests as there is a float-plane service to their docks from Vancouver and Seattle. Secure parking is also available to those who wish to drive the short scenic trip from Vancouver.

Hiking
The area is ideal for hiking and many other types of outdoor recreation.

Fishing
With its picturesque shoreline and gentle climate, Pender Harbour is a perfect boating and fishing destination. Be sure you have a valid license and consult local stores and marinas for current fishing information; they can tell you what's hot (and what's not) at the moment.

Shopping
Compliment your outdoor adventures with time spent visiting a quaint shop, gallery or waterfront restaurant, chatting with the locals at the coffee shop or over a cold one at the pub.

Suncoaster Trail
If you have a mountain bike, the Suncoaster Trail is nearby and great fun. The 33 km (20 mi.) follows old rail beds, forested single track, BC Hydro service roads, along rocky cliffs and parts of Hwy 101. At the northern end of this adventure trail is where the best scenic points are found - views overlooking Ruby and Sakinaw Lakes and the 21.3 m (68 ft.) bridge by the waterfall crossing Sakinaw Creek. The mountain bike trail is mostly covered in aggregate gravel with some highway biking sections. No worries though, the shoulders on the highway have been widened to make room for cyclists.

Take in beautiful views, have a bite and sip cold beer on the deck of the Garden Bay Hotel & Pub. Christopher will be around for the rest of the night and is happy to speak with you one-on-one or in small groups.
