The Event
To commemorate our 50th Anniversary, Grand Banks Yachts hosted a remarkable journey for a group of owners, through one of the world's most celebrated cruising regions: the Inside Passage.
Grand Banks owners from around the globe signed on to cruise together from the Pacific Northwest north to Alaska. The event was designed to celebrate the quintessential Grand Banks experience: tucking into coves and harbors too intimate for big cruise ships. Cruising comfortably and confidently through all manner of seas. And coming away with a deeper enjoyment of the area than most will ever know.
Just the kind of experience that Grand Banks owners have known and cherished for 50 years.
The Inside Passage provided the perfect backdrop for this group adventure. Blessed with an abundance of beautiful harbors, dazzling scenery, fascinating cultures and colorful history, nowhere in North America are there so many wonderfully robust and civilized adventures to be had.
Sixteen Grand Banks, old and new, departed with the Grand Tour on May 15, from the beautiful resort of Poets Cove in the Canadian Gulf Islands. Three weeks later they arrived in the fishing port of Wrangell, Alaska. Along the way, this group of 50 skippers, mates, guests and crew enjoyed what many called a "life-changing experience." The beauty, the camaraderie, the opportunity to see and experience the diverse wonders of the Inside Passage - aboard a Grand Banks, no less - made for a most remarkable anniversary celebration.
To learn more about the Grand Tour, as well as the places and experiences we enjoyed, we invite you to explore the various sections of this Grand Tour web site. "Destinations" will tell you more about the various destinations, along with marina and anchorage information plus highlights and activities at each location. "The Route Map" provides an overview map, with clickable links to each port of call. "Log Blog" is a day-by-day account from the perspective of one member of the Grand Tour. And be sure to see the beautiful series of photos from all along the Inside Passage.
There's also information on how to prepare for a long-range cruise of your own, links to various articles in the press about the Grand Tour, profiles of some of the people who made the event a success, and even a selection of popular recipes from our Grand Tour guest chef.
Finally, a huge debt of gratitude is owed to Cummins MerCruiser Diesel as the top sponsor of the Grand Tour - and a top supplier of engines to Grand Banks Yachts - along with our other Partner Sponsors. Without their support this event would not have been possible. Please click on the Sponsor link for more information about these companies and their valuable products and services.
